HWANGE
Hwange National Park in the northwest
of Zimbabwe is one of Africa’s prime parks. It covers
nearly 15,000 km2 of heat blistered Kalahari sand country -
mainly grassland plains with scattered bush and trees, and
sustains a greater variety and density of wildlife than any
other area. Hwange has no perennial streams, but there is
plenty of water in the pump-supplied waterholes and its many
natural pans fill up after the summer rains. These
pans nurture great numbers of elephant, giraffe, zebra,
buffalo, sable, roan as well as the predators - lion,
leopard, cheetah, hyena and wild dog.
Makalolo
Plains Camp
Located within the National Park well away from
the congested main gate in an ecologically diverse area.
This tented camp, accommodating 16 guests, is elevated on
teak decking and has a good view of a very busy water hole,
especially over the winter months when one can watch the
passing parade of game as they quench their thirst. The area
is known for excellent predator sightings. Little Makalolo
Camp accommodates 8 guests in ensuite tents at ground level.
Both camps offer game drives and walking safaris with
professional guides and have plunge pools.
The Hide
Situated within the National Park and
accommodates 14 guests in East African style ensuite tents
and has a floodlit waterhole close to the dining area.
Activities are varied and include game drives and walking
safaris with professional guides.
Sable Valley
Lodge

on the Dete Vlei and accommodates 22 guests with ensuite
facilities. Children welcome.

Springs, Linkwasha
